History
For over half a century now, Lighthouse has provided compassionate, skilled mental health care to clients of all ages, from all walks of life. As a private nonprofit counseling center, Lighthouse has a history of responding to the changing needs of our community. From solutions to the needs of the “latchkey kids” of the 1970s and ‘80s, through virtual counseling and free “Connections Groups” for kids isolated during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have listened and responded to the needs of our community. We are a Maryland Youth Services Bureau, aimed at preventing poor outcomes for children and youth, including those at risk of self-harm, substance use, school failure, and involvement with the juvenile justice system. We work with clients of all ages experiencing mental health challenges, life stressors, grief, trauma, life transitions and relationship issues. Through our Together Project, we work with families affected by a loved one’s substance abuse or addiction, including those children, parents, and others experiencing collateral damage from the opioid epidemic. Our counselors deliver high quality, evidence-based services with cultural competence and respect for diversity.
